Roy Peires and the Connection Between Resort Development and Regional Community Support

//Roy Peires and the Connection Between Resort Development and Regional Community Support

Resort operations and community activity have developed alongside one another in the history of the hospitality business Roy Peires started in the 1980s. That business operates today as the IDILIQ Group, with IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts providing hospitality operations on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife.

Across those regions, community involvement has taken several forms. Resort accommodation, fundraising events, staff participation, equipment donations, and investment through the IDILIQ Foundation have all been used to support organizations working with people facing healthcare, disability, social welfare, and other difficult circumstances.

How Roy Peires Connected Hospitality Operations With Local Needs

Roy Peires became involved with local charities soon after establishing the business. Cudeca was the first charity identified in that history, with early support including the reception area of the organization’s newly built hospice on the Costa del Sol.

That relationship continued through sponsorship of Cudeca’s annual Walkathon, where fundraising helps support the running costs of the centre. Furniture and goods have also been donated to Cudeca charity shops across the province, while a vehicle was purchased for the Home Care team to make essential visits to patients.

More recently, patients and their families have received free accommodation at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts through Kind Holidays. These activities show the different forms taken by Roy Peires’ connection between hospitality operations and community support, including facilities, fundraising, transport, donated goods, and resort accommodation.

The resorts have also been associated with annual fundraising activity. Properties on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife have supported charitable causes, while staff in Tenerife have taken part in Mercedes-Benz Tour Amateur Golf Tournaments to raise funds for Asociación Nuevo Futuro.

Resort Resources as a Form of Practical Assistance

Accommodation is one of the clearest ways the hospitality resources associated with Roy Peires have been used for charitable purposes. Through the IDILIQ Foundation, an apartment at one of the group’s resorts has been made available to children undergoing cancer treatment, allowing their families to stay without charge while treatment is taking place.

Kind Holidays applies accommodation resources through a wider group of charitable relationships. In 2012, the initiative became one of the early accommodation donors to Give Us Time, which organizes free hotel and resort stays for military personnel and their families.

In 2016, Roy Peires expanded Kind Holidays by making space at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts available to charities supporting seriously and terminally ill children, bereavement organizations, Children’s Hospices, and the Carers Trust. Within 18 months, approximately a dozen additional charities had joined the program.

More than 2,300 people supported through more than a dozen charities have received free stays through Kind Holidays. Roy Peires has also encouraged other businesses involved in hospitality and travel to consider similar participation, including hotels, airlines, cruise operators, restaurants, and taxi companies.

Infrastructure Beyond the Resort Environment

The community activity associated with Roy Peires also includes investment outside resort accommodation. The IDILIQ Foundation spent €1.6 million constructing the F. Cruz Dias-ADIMI Care Centre, which currently provides treatment to more than 500 people.

ADIMI is the only private nonprofit organization in Mijas dedicated to defending the rights, inclusion, and quality of life of people with cognitive and developmental disabilities. The centre provides Early Care, Child and Youth Services, a Day and Occupational Centre, and a residential facility for individuals with severe conditions.

The two-floor facility includes medical technology and facilities, three dining rooms, waiting areas, gardens, and consultation rooms for psychotherapy and physiotherapy. Continuing assistance for ADIMI includes campaigns collecting materials and funds intended to improve the quality of life of its users.

Other activities connected with Roy Peires’ community work through the IDILIQ Foundation include support for Fuensocial and Afesol. Fuensocial received a fully equipped computer classroom for users with disabilities, while Afesol has received furniture and household items for supervised living facilities as well as assistance with its Day Centre in Mijas.

A Regional Network Built Through Different Forms of Support

Roy Peires is connected with community initiatives serving organizations with different purposes across the regions associated with the group’s activities. The IDILIQ Foundation supports an annual internal campaign whose proceeds go entirely to AECC Málaga, while its work with Los Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche has included the donation of 500 Christmas Eve meals.

Computer equipment has also been provided to Asociación Cadi, El Faro de la Escucha, Asociación ALAS, and Fuensocial. Casa Ronald McDonald in Málaga, a 14-bed facility that houses families who live far from the hospital where their children are receiving treatment, is among the causes connected with fundraising at the group’s resorts.

These activities involve different resources depending on the organization involved. Hospitality capacity can provide accommodation, resort facilities can host fundraising, staff can participate in charitable events, and the IDILIQ Foundation can direct equipment, household items, funds, and infrastructure support toward community organizations.

The documented history of Roy Peires’ regional community involvement therefore includes both resort-based activity and assistance delivered beyond the resorts themselves. The business he founded operates in hospitality, while the IDILIQ Foundation and Kind Holidays are connected with charitable initiatives involving healthcare, disability services, social welfare, and families facing serious circumstances.

That combination is visible across the Costa del Sol and Tenerife in different ways. For Roy Peires, the record includes long-term support for Cudeca, construction and continuing support of the ADIMI care centre, charitable accommodation through Kind Holidays, fundraising at resorts, staff participation, and practical donations to organizations serving their communities.
