South Georgia Technical College

South Georgia Technical College is a residential institute of higher education and a member of the Technical College System of Georgia. It is the mission of South Georgia Technical College to prepare individuals for success in the workforce by providing accessible, high quality associate of applied science degrees, diplomas, technical certificates of credit and non-credit programs and services that support the needs of citizens, businesses, and industries within our service delivery area in Southwest Georgia.

South Georgia Technical College has an enrollment of over 3,500 students and offer over 90 different degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs. The main campus is located in Sumter County, six miles northeast of Americus between Highways 19 and 49 on South Georgia Tech Parkway. The campus includes 17 buildings on a 225 acre site. SGTC also hasa satellite campus in Crisp County.

Qualified students may attend South Georgia Tech practically tuition free with the HOPE Grant and HOPE Scholarship. Federal Financial Aid is also available to qualified students. SGTC also participates in intercollegiate athletics and offers a full range of student life activities and organizations.

Georgia Southwestern State University

Georgia Southwestern State University, a four-year comprehensive institution within the University System of Georgia, was found in 1960 as the Third Agricultural and Mechanical School.

The University offers over 40 degrees, undergraduate and graduate, in the areas of Art and Science, Business Administration, Computing and Mathematics, Education and Nursing. Southwestern also boasts the only Glassblowing and Professional Golf Management Programs in Georgia.

The Georgia Southwestern Athletics Department has 10 sports that complete in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference.

The University is set on a residential campus, offering students newly constructed apartment and suite-style residence halls. With an enrollment of more than 2,900, Georgia Southwestern serves students from all over Georgia, the U.S. and has a diverse international population.

Georgia Southwestern is located in Americus approximately 135 miles south of Atlanta in the heart of southwest Georgia.
